There are many forms of penance and one way is not eating meat on Friday, or the whole of Holy Week, while devotees don’t eat for forty days.
As a way of paying respect for the religious practice, Swan Restaurant in North Hollywood will be offering several non-meat dishes to help observe the Holy Week. According to Swan Restaurant owner Somchet Kemtat, Swan Restaurant has been a favorite dining place of many Filipinos and that they want to be part of this religious observance.
Somchet, who is popularly known as Bon, says he would like his customers to try their non-meat dishes. He says Swan Restaurant is actually known in the neighborhood, where many Filipinos reside, for his house favorite, the Swan Fish.
Swan Fish is a deep friend whole boneless trout fish topped with a house special lime sauce that is totally unique. The Swan Fish is crispy when served, and the peanuts that are scattered around the plate add a distinctive flavor that complements the lime taste.
Along with the Swan Fish of course are our favorite pad thai and the seafood tom yum, which are great dishes for the Holy Week even if it’s already Easter Sunday, when Catholics can once again enjoy meat.
